The Pokemon franchise is one of the foremost monster-collecting properties in the world, and for good reason. As of writing, there are about 900 pocket monsters currently available throughout the series' many mainline and spin-off properties, with even more on the way. One Pokemon fan decided to celebrate these fantastical creatures by redrawing Pewter City and hiding 100 Pokemon in the image.

This isn't the first time Pokemon fans have redrawn iconic locations from the games, but it may be one of the most detailed. Pewter City is a town located in the Kanto region of the Pokemon world, and it can be visited in the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games and their remakes. The Gym Leader is Brock, who specializes in Rock-type Pokemon and hands out the Boulder Badge to those who defeat him.

Redditor Saltiestbun has shared a lush, pixel art recreation of Pewter City that packs as many stunning sights and adorable creatures in as possible. The image features elaborate designs for the Pewter Museum of Science and the Pewter Gym where Brock can be found. However, the main appeal of the image is the 100 Pokemon that the artist has tucked into every nook and cranny. Wherever the viewer's eyes might land, there's sure to be at least one Pokemon hiding nearby.

It would have been enough of an achievement to have created and concealed 100 Pokemon in a single pixel art drawing, but Saltiestbun went even further. Many of the hidden Pokemon are shown interacting with their environment or hanging out with each other. The scenarios they're engaged in can range from a Clefairy hanging out on a rooftop to an Onix Pokemon seemingly teaching a group of smaller reptilian Pokemon. There's even an Ekans that seems to have fallen in love with a garden hose.

On top of the many living Pokemon to be found in this piece, the artist also decided to play up Pewter's connection to rocks and science by including fossil Pokemon. In the Pokemon games, these extinct creatures must be resurrected from their preserved bones. This drawing portrays those bones in the form of massive fossil displays that dominate the upper right corner. The skeletons of an enormous Aerodactyl, a good-sized Kabutops, and a Kabuto that is easily the size of a person seem to have been set up by the local scientists for study. Several people and a Porygon-Z can be seen admiring the displays.
