A Pokemon fan has created a piece of art imagining what Ninetales might look like if it had a future-inspired Paradox form. The Paradox forms introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have led to a wave of inspired pieces of art as fans envision what their favorite Pokemon might look like in the past and future. This latest piece of Pokemon fanart does just that, taking the Fire-type Pokemon Ninetales and imagining what it might look like in the far future.

For those unfamiliar, Paradox forms are a new concept added in the most recent generation of Pokemon games. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the story involves messing around with time a bit. Those time travel shenanigans lead to a variety of Paradox-form Pokemon being brought to the present. Future Pokemon are seen in Pokemon Violet, as robotic reimaginings of some Pokemon favorites. Ancient Pokemon are seen in Pokemon Scarlet as if they were pulled directly from the time of dinosaurs.

Artist LukeTheCyberpunk decided to make a Paradox-form Pokemon of their own, transforming Ninetales into a creature pulled from the far future. Their Ninetales is named the Iron Nonuple and instead of being just a Fire-type, they're now a Fire/Fairy-type Pokemon. The body of the Ninetales is covered in gold robotic armor with black accents and a bright red eye. Instead of long, fluffy tails, however, the Paradox-form Ninetales has bright pink floating pointed cylinders.

LukeTheCyberpunk had a specific idea in mind when they made the new Ninetales' tails, though. They say that they were thinking of lava lamps when they drew them. While it's an odd choice, it's hard to argue that it doesn't lead to a very interesting design.

The Ninetales isn't the first Paradox form created by LukeTheCyberpunk. They have a long history of other original creations, including future Paradox forms of Porygon, Jumpluff, Solrock, and Lunatone. They very likely aren't done, either. It'll be exciting to see what other original Pokemon designs they make in the future.

Part of what makes creating original Paradox-form Pokemon so attractive to Pokemon fans is that there is so few official versions. Between Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, there are currently only 16 Paradox-form Pokemon available. More are being released in future Pokemon Scarlet and Violet content, though. Perhaps Game Freak will take inspiration from all of these fan creations.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now on Switch.
