Dating back to the very first Pokémon games on the original Game Boy, evolutions have been a major component of the Pocket Monsters experience. Who can forget the first time the evolution text appeared on the screen, and the jubilation they felt after seeing their evolved Pokémon appear?

But, as Pokémon games have changed over the years so too has the evolution mechanic. More recently, for example, Game Freak introduced a new Mega Evolution mechanic that transforms a select group of Pokémon into even more formidable fighters.

For this year's Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Game Freak has introduced even more Mega Evolutions to the mix, including some for the game's very rare Shiny Pokémon. However, considering those Pokémon type's rarity it's going to be hard for players to catch 'em all, let alone see every one's Mega Evolution. Thankfully, one dedicated Pokémon fan has recorded all 48 Shiny Pokémon Mega Evolutions and provided them in the video above.

The video features plenty of gorgeous Mega Evolutions from Rayquaza to Groudon, and is sure to delight Poke fans from beginning to end. We do have to take one issue with the video's creator, though, since Dancie is not a Shiny Pokémon. So, technically it's 47 Shiny Mega Evolutions and one Dancie appearance just for a little fun.

All Shiny Pokemon Mega Evolutions

There's no question that Pokémon evolutions have come a long way since the Game Boy days. Where those little black and grey sprites may have packed a solid amount of detail, these modern versions are bursting with color and lots of interesting designs.

By our account (read our review), Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are great additions to the Pokémon family, featuring smart new additions coupled with familiar mechanics. Oftentimes the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," works perfectly for game developers, and no more is that true than with Pokémon. The games also smartly find ways to increase longevity, beyond just catching every Pokémon. Some spend hundreds of hours searching out these Shiny Pokémon, for example. And now they will be rewarded with some really impressive Mega Evolutions.

What do you think of these Shiny Mega Evolutions? Which one is your favorite?

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are out now for 3DS.
