As The Pokemon Company and Nintendo keep reassuring fans, the world of Pokemon is vast and there's a lot of it left to explore. That's how the two companies have been explaining why new monsters and regions keep appearing with each and every new installment anyway, and there doesn't appear to be any shortage of new evolutions set to debut in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Thus far, trainers the world over have been treated to a wide array of new Mega Evolutions that'll be debuting on the pair of anticipated remakes for the Nintendo 3DS. The final evolutionary forms of the Hoenn starters in the upcoming games will each have a Mega Evolution bestowed upon them, while other Pocket Monsters such as Salamence, Lopunny and Altaria have also been confirmed to join the Mega club, and now The Pokemon company has announced that Mega Slowbro will be making its debut later this year.

The classic beast's new, albeit battle-exclusive, evolution gives it boosted stats and a new ability (as is usually the case with Mega Evolutions) which makes the Pokemon an even more valuable option during battles.

Pokemon Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire Mega Slowbro

Just what buffs does Slowbro get from Mega Evolving? Well for starters the monster is given the Shell Armor Ability, which prevents a critical hit from ever landing on it. Aside from that, its already naturally high defensive capabilities get raised even higher with a solid stat increase for Defense, while the Pokemon's Special Attack stat also get a nice boost. Ideally, this makes Mega Slowbro a perfect choice for long, drawn out battles.

Mega Slowbro's reveal is undoubtedly an exciting one for fans, but it's not very surprising considering that its existence was leaked prematurely alongside the previously unveiled Mega Audino. Regardless, the more additions to the Pocket Monster universe the better, and chances are that franchise's developer Game Freak isn't done quite yet — especially considering that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire aren't set to arrive until November.

Now if only we knew what this means for the other member of Slowpoke's evolutionary chain, Slowking. Will the creature find itself with a Mega Evolution of its own or will it be outmatched by Slowbro and its new and enhanced Beyblade-esque appearance? Time will tell what Game Freak has planned, so stay tuned to Game Rant for more news on Pokemon.

What do you think of Mega Slowbro and will you be adding the Pokemon to your team? What other Mega Evolutions would you like to see debut in the forthcoming pair of remakes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
