If there's one thing that fans of the Pokemon series have now come to expect from the impending Ruby and Sapphire remakes it's that Game Freak has whipped up a lot of Mega Evolutions that it intends to debut in the upcoming games. So far the Hoenn region's starters have been on the receiving end of additional evolutions, while the latest trio of Salamence, Lopunny and Altaria have also been confirmed to feature the ability.

Not one to be content with offering consumers a mere handful of new Megas, The Pokemon Company has announced another evolution that will be appearing in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire — Mega Audino.

Temporarily evolving from the Chansey-like monster that first appeared in Pokemon Black and White, Audino will at long last serve a purpose other than experience farming. Playing into the benefits the creature is already known too well for (being tedious to knock out), transforming it into Mega Audino will drastically boost its Defense and Special Defense stats.

Other than stat alterations, Audino will also become a Normal/Fairy hybrid upon Mega Evolving which will help it out against foes that are less-than-stellar against the newest type. Last but not least, the Pokemon will gain the Healer ability, which gives it a 30% chance of healing status ailments of a teammate during battle. That, coupled with its enhanced Defense and Special Defense stats, makes it an ideal Pocket Monster for Double and Triple Battles.

Dedicated Pokemon fans will know that Mega Audino's existence actually leaked prior to its official unveiling, which means that Mega Slowbro likely isn't too far away from getting its own trailer as well. Having some more concrete details on the creature is certainly a plus for those trying to plan out their teams for Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire though, so competitive players can now map out their strategies accordingly.
