Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were the last Pokémon remakes we've had in a while apart from Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. They came out before Pokémon Sun and Moon, which was still just over five years ago.

But Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were more than just remakes because they added quite a bit of quality of life changes to the game. As well as that, because Omega and Alpha released after Pokémon X and Y. This means a lot of the features were kept in for the remakes such as mega evolution, super training, and flying around the region of Hoen.

10 Surfing Pokémon

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, there are three Pokémon that appear on the water as their sprites when you're using TM Surf. The three Pokémon in question are Wailmer, Sharkpedo, and Kyogre, and no other Pokémon in the game does this. They all appear as if a dark shape is underneath the trainer, but that's it.

However, if you evolve Wailmer into Wailord, the sprite disappears and turns back into the dark shape. Not only do these three Pokémon have sprites, but they also have an added bonus, such as extra speed. Sharkpedo has the fastest speed, and you're holding his fin, which looks fantastic, and Kyogre is the biggest and has a slightly quicker pace than normal.

9 Secret Pokémon In The Sunken Ship

The Sunken Ship is an optional part of the game, but most trainers always will come here because of the boatload of useful items. But, more critically, this ship is where the legendary Pokémon spawns. Depending on what version your using, the legendary Pokémon will either appear underneath the boat or above.

However, there is another secret Pokémon on this ship. When you enter a specific room, a textbox will appear saying that something is watching you. Check the bookcase in the corner, and you're still being watched. Open up your items, as this is the last step needed to trigger the Pokémon Spiritomb's appearance. This Pokémon is 108 spirits joined together, so a lot of the people who died on this ship makeup Spiritomb.

8 Ghosts?!

Pokémon games really do love their ghostly themes, especially on their Pokémon, such as a specific Pokémon stealing handsome hikers as decorations and food. They also love ghostly figures appearing then disappearing with a trace. In this instance, just before the battle with Phoebe, the Ghost Trainer of the Elite 4. During the conversation, the viewpoint changes to a bobbing outsider's perspective, as you are viewing both the trainer and Phoebe.

However, there is a chair behind Phoebe, where a kid appears but only visible during specific frames when speaking top Phoebe. The child that appears is presumably Phoebe's younger sister, as, during the game, she visits her grave on Mt. Pyre.

7 Float Stone Best Thing For Weight Loss

There is a trainer in the game who gives you a pretty cool item, the Float Stone, which halves the weight of the holder, holding this stone. It's a very situational item, but it's cool nevertheless. Albeit, when the trainer gives the trainer the stone, he is pretty thin, but, if you go back and speak to him after a while, you will come to discover that his sprite has changed into that of a hiker. Engage the guy in a conversation, and he'll say, "For some reason, I've put on a lot of weight recently."

This is because he no longer has his Float Stone, but, funnily enough, the item does say 'holder of the stone,' not half the weight of the Pokémon.

6 One Simply Does Not...

Everyone knows the most famous Lord of the Ring's meme, from the legend who never dies in any of the films he's cast in, Sean Bean, or, in this case, Boromir. The meme in question is "One simply does not work into Mordor.Well, there is a homage to this meme in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, which is "One simply does not walk into a Mirage Spot."

The old man that says this does not die like Boromir—as far as we know—but, if you never return there, it's the equivalent of Schrodinger's old man.

5 Game Freak And A Fan Picture

In Dewford town, there is a house with a lovely old couple living there. That's not the important thing. The important thing is the picture hanging on the wall behind them. It's hard to see what the image is due to the pixelation of the game, but fans have put two and two together and realized it's a map of the PokéEarth.

This map comes from Serebii, the renowned Pokémon information site, and the owner of the website is the one that created this map. This is an excellent homage to fans that love Pokémon, and having a hidden reference to a fan-made image is an amazing thing. Hats off to you, Game Freak.

4 Mirage Island

Mirage island was one of the biggest mysteries back in the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. However, in Omega and Alpha, they've tweaked the Mirage Island's but still kept the name in reference to the original. In Omega and Alpha, these mirage islands are all over the place, and it's possible to catch a lot of powerful unique Pokémon here for your ever-growing team.

Initially, the odds of finding the secret Mirage Island on Ruby and Sapphire were worse than finding a shiny at 1/10923, and it was heavily based on your Trainer ID and your Secret ID. For those lucky enough to be one of the chosen, all that was on the island was level 50 Wynauts and a special kind of berry.

3 The Southen Island

The island that you find Latios or Latias as part of the story can be classed as a Mirage Island, as you can revisit this island later on. However, it's not overly that simple, as you need an extraordinary item to be able to do so, the mystery Eon Ticket. Ruby and Sapphire released when the 3DS was still massively popular, and the Street Pass was still an amazing feature, and this Street Pass feature is how you found this ticket.

This ticket started as an event in the UK where winners of a competition would be the only ones in the world to receive this Eon ticket. Then their job was to spread this item around the country by going to other games stores, therefore distributing the ticket via StreetPass, and then other people would then go back home and spread the ticket further.

2 Triangle Comet

At the end of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, there is a battle with the legendary Pokémon Deoxys, who appears riding a triangle-shaped comet. This is, in fact, a reference to Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed, where, once again, you can acquire a special event ticket which would take you to Birth Island.

This island is a triangle-shaped, and upon the island itself is a triangle in the center. By interacting with the shape, you have to follow it around the island in a specific pattern, and, upon doing so correctly, Deoxys will emerge to do battle

1 Global Agent Looker

This one started all the way back in the original games of Pokémon Red and Blue—more specifically, on the SS Anne. There is an individual in one of the rooms called Looker who says he's a Global Police Agent. Fast forward to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and you can find Looker washed up on a shore saying he was in a shipwreck. So, perhaps, when the SS Anne departed once more, it was wrecked.

Now, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are happening at the same time as FireRed and Leafgreen, so there is a high chance that this person is the same one from the SS Anne. However, he has amnesia, so, until his memory returns, we'll never know if this is the truth or not.
