Pokemon Nobungas crossover trailer

Do you remember that big Pokemon announcement that was scheduled to be revealed at the Jump Festa event in Japan this weekend? Well, the Meowth is out of the bag now, and it turns out that the "big surprise" that was being hyped for the event is none other than a crossover title between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei called Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition for the Nintendo DS.

This latest game marks the first time both companies have come together to work on a project, and if the game proves successful, it likely won't be the last.

There are many readers who are avid Pokemon fans who may have never heard of Nobunaga's Ambition, so to keep it brief, it's essentially a strategy game that focuses on conquering land and going to war with your opponents. I'm not really sure where they came up with the idea to have a crossover between a war game and one where you run around collecting cute and cuddly monsters, but the end result certainly looks very promising.

An official debut trailer for Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition has been released, and it is — as should be expected — in Japanese. It is also featured below for your convenience.

Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition will allow players to select either a male or female protagonist, and that character, regardless of gender, will start off with an Eevee. They will be accompanied by a female character named Oichi, and she will aid the main protagonist with her Jigglypuff. More Pokemon can presumably be captured (and dare I say evolved) during the course of the game. The main character will do battle with warlords that are assisted by the likes of legendary Pokemon Mewtwo, Zekrom, Articuno, and Groudon. Gameplay will play out via a turn-based system — with the main objective being to defeat the enemies that dare get in your way.

This game certainly isn't Pokemon Gray, the title that seemed most likely candidate to be revealed during Jump Festa, but it's far from disappointing. Still, it's a little puzzling why Nintendo didn't want to release this game for their 3DS. It's also a safe bet to assume that Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition is the Pokemon game CoroCoro planned on revealing in their upcoming magazine in January, although fans may still be pleasantly surprised.

More information on Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition will be revealed in January, but there's no word on whether or not fans can expect this crossover to cross over to North America anytime soon.
