The newly-released Pokemon Legends: Arceus sees players navigating the ancient Hisui region, which predates the Sinnoh region familiar to fans of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl (or for new fans, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl). Pokemon Legends: Arceus emphasizes exploration and capturing various species of Pokemon.

Among the Pokemon available for players to catch in Pokemon Legends: Arceus are new forms of Pokemon from Generations 1 through 7. As in Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield, these forms update certain Pokemon by adapting them to the unique environments of each game. Naturally, this concept makes fans run wild with ideas of which Pokemon could receive regional forms in future games, and what those forms could look like.

10 Jynx

Ever since its debut in the first generation, Jynx has been the subject of controversy for its resemblance to racially insensitive performance art. As such, it's already received a redesign to distance it from its horrific origins. Taking Jynx's design a step further and giving a complete overhaul with a new regional form could be just what it needs to be accepted by fans again.

One idea is to make Jynx resemble a stereotypical opera singer, complete with a Viking hat and long braids. Rather than be Ice/Psychic, its typing could change to Ice/Fairy, with moves like Disarming Voice that emphasize its new singing motif.

9 Dunsparce

A wild Dunsparce in the rain in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Gen 2's Dunsparce is a Pokemon that, simply put, has wasted potential. Many fans have imagined various redesigns of Dunsparce, or possibly an evolution chain that would update the Normal-type and possibly make it competitively viable. In short, there are many ways Game Freak could rework this fan-favorite.

Since Dunsparce's Pokedex entries make mention of its ability to dig underground, this new Dunsparce form could double down and be Ground-type. Furthermore, a longer, more serpentine design could possibly warrant a secondary Dragon-typing. Just think of the memes this type of glow-up could inspire!

8 Tropius

Tropius's capture menu in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Another example of wasted potential is Tropius, Gen 3's Grass/Flying tree dinosaur. With no pre-evolution or evolution, Tropius is one of those Pokemon who is easily forgettable to most Pokemon fans. With a redesign, perhaps Tropius could inherit some uniqueness that would make it stand out more.

This new Tropius design could go many ways. It could emphasize the tropical aspects and become Grass/Fire, or it could become a more sturdy, Redwood-based tree that's Grass/Ground. The most interesting idea would be to see Tropius have a more prehistoric design that leans into the Brontosaurus aspect, making it Grass/Dragon.

7 Rotom

A wild Rotom in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Out of all the Pokemon who received regional forms in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it's stunning that Rotom was left out. Especially since the Hisui region is more ancient, so it doesn't make much sense for the technology-driven Rotom to shapeshift into a washing machine or refrigerator in this game.

A new Rotom design for the Hisui region could see it lose its Electric-typing, remaining pure Ghost. Its various forms could also resemble inventions of the past, like a wheelbarrow instead of the lawnmower, or a campfire instead of a microwave. All of these forms could keep Rotom's Ghost-typing rather than its Electric-typing.

6 Vanillite / Vanillish / Vanilluxe

A Vanilluxe mid-battle in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Food-based Pokemon are probably the easiest to imagine having different forms. The Vanilluxe line, which originally appeared in Pokemon Black & White, would be an easy design. Game Freak could simply change their ice cream flavoring and add a secondary typing to accommodate it.

While there are several different ice cream flavors to choose from, an interesting one would be for Vanilluxe and its pre-evolutions to become mint chocolate chip-flavored. Its typing for this design could be Ice/Grass, and perhaps it could have a new signature move called "Minty Wind."

5 Golett / Golurk

A wild Golett in the rain in Pokemon Sword & Shield

While a lot of the regional variant Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Legends: Arceus receive more mythical or ancient redesigns, Golett and Golurk could potentially go the opposite direction. Since they're already based on ancient technology, maybe an interesting re-imagining would be to modernize these automatons.

Rather than be Ground/Ghost, the new Golett and Golurk could be Steel/Electric, powered by electricity rather than being haunted. Since Golurk already has a pretty diverse moveset, a complete overhaul wouldn't be necessary, other than to replace certain Ghost-type and Ground-type moves with Electric-type and Steel-type ones.

4 Litleo / Pyroar

A Pyroar mid-battle in Pokemon X & Y

The Kalos region's Litleo and Pyroar fall short in terms of typing, keeping a secondary Normal-typing upon evolution. In a potential regional form, it would be cool to see what kinds of interesting type combinations these two could benefit from.

If Game Freak ever made a main series Pokemon title that took place in a region inspired by ancient Greece, Pyroar would be perfect for a regional variant based on the manticore, a monster from Greek mythology. Its tail could become more scorpion-like, and its typing could change to Fire/Poison.

3 Hawlucha

Hawlucha in a menu in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Hawlucha's luchador wrestling design certainly makes it stand out amongst most sixth generation Pokemon. However, it's easy to imagine another region requiring a different type of fighter for its own Hawlucha form. In this case, Game Freak would certainly have plenty of different fighting careers to redesign Hawlucha with.

In a Spain-based region, Hawlucha could resemble a matador, waving a red flag around. Or, in a region like Hisui, Hawlucha could become either a samurai or a sumo wrestler. There are a lot of various type combinations this Hawlucha could inherit, even though the Fighting/Flying typing would be hard to outdo.

2 Komala

Komala appearing in the Pokemon anime, sitting in a tree sleeping

Komala is one of the cutest Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sun & Moon, and that's saying something. However, its Normal-typing leaves a lot to be desired, especially for a Pokemon like Komala who is single-staged. With its ability Comatose, which makes it immune to status conditions, an updated typing could wake up Komala's doubters.

One idea could incorporate a dream-like aspect to Komala, making it either Psychic-type or Fairy-type. With this new form, perhaps Komala is aided by a Dream Komala, who appears from thin air, with an updated Comatose ability that allows every move to hit twice. A redesign like this could improve Komala's place in the competitive meta.

1 Sinistea / Polteageist

A wild Polteageist in Pokemon Sword & Shield

These pure Ghost-types from Pokemon's eighth generation, like Vanilluxe, could have many interpretations. With the first appearance of this evolutionary family being in the British-inspired region, it makes sense why this haunted teacup and teapot would fit the region's aesthetics. But with a different region altogether, it would make more sense to adapt them to another drink.

One idea, like Pyroar's imagined regional form, would be an ancient Greece-inspired region. Instead of a teacup and teapot, Sinistea could become a wine glass, and Polteageist a wine bottle or cask. Polteageist's design could even have mythical art all along the sides. In addition, the wine aspect of this regional variant could earn Sinistea and Polteageist a secondary Poison-typing.
