As one of the original gym leaders from the Game Boy titles Pokemon Red and Blue, Cerulean City's Water-type trainer Misty has become one of the most popular characters from the Pokemon franchise. In the anime, Misty joins Ash Ketchum and Brock in an adventure to become the best trainers in the world. Misty has inspired many cosplays with her signature look and Water-type companions, and one fan recently showed off their cosplay that includes a fan-favorite Generation 1 Pokemon.

Instagram user supersailorvirgo has built a fanbase with her diverse cosplays, and has over 41 thousand followers as of this writing. One of her most impressive is the Pokemon character Misty. While Misty's signature outfit may not be the most complicated, supersailorvirgo takes it to another level using a giant Lapras and an impressive short battle with another popular Generation 1 Pokemon.

Her cosplay features Misty's classic yellow tank top and red suspenders, as well as her bright red hair. Supersailorvirgo also keeps a Pokeball clipped to her side, which she uses in the video to unleash her powerful Lapras. The video is complete with the catchy original Pokemon battle music and a stuffed Vulpix opponent. As a Water-type, Lapras is able to overwhelm the Fire-type Pokemon with the HM move Surf.

Although Misty has not appeared in the latest Pokemon titles, the red-haired gym leader did appear in Let's Go Pikachu! and Let's Go Eevee! at the Cerulean City Gym, and has also made an appearance in the Android and iOS title Pokemon Masters.

Pokemon is already slated for a big year in 2021. The hit mobile title Pokemon GO recently started a special event, the Hoenn Celebration, which features encounters with Pokemon from the third Generation including starter Pokemon Mudkip, Treecko, and Torchic. The event will also feature raids with the legendary Pokemon from the Pokemon Ruby, Groudon.

A follow-up to the 1999 Nintendo 64 title Pokemon Snap is scheduled to release on April 30 for the Nintendo Switch. New Pokemon Snap is said to feature four times the amount of Pokemon from the original, so players will get a big dose of nostalgia as well as some new encounters with more recent generations of Pokemon.

While players wait for that release, it seems the original title Pokemon Red is still being played in unique ways. One fan created a crowd-controlled playthrough of Pokemon Red where fans control the avatar's actions via Twitter, and that recently beat Misty in Cerulean City to earn Pokemon's Cascade Badge.
