When Nintendo officially announced Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go Eeevee, the company also revealed a brand new Pokemon peripheral called the Poke Ball Plus. The Poke Ball Plus promises added interactivity with players' Pokemon, allowing players to carry their Pokemon with them outside of the game in order to gain special rewards when the characters are returned to it. Like any portable device, there are battery limits, and Nintendo has now revealed more info about the Poke Ball Plus battery life.

According to a chart published on the official Pokemon website, the Poke Ball Plus battery is a lithium-ion 220 mAh battery that can be charged using the Nintendo Switch AC adapter HAC-002. The Poke Ball Plus battery is not removable, though if players need to get a replacement they can get one from the Nintendo service center, which will charge a fee.

Regarding the Poke Ball Plus battery life, there is some confusion. Initially, the Nintendo of America version of the chart said that the Poke Ball Plus battery life is just three hours. Meanwhile, the Nintendo UK version of the chart says that the device will take three hours to charge and makes no mention of the battery life beyond the 220 mAh technical specs.

Given that the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers have a 525 mAh capacity battery and a battery life of 20 hours on a single charge, it's more likely that the Poke Ball Plus battery life is somewhere around the eight-hour mark. Players may even be able to get more play time out of the device - even beyond that estimated eight hours - depending on how much they use it.

When detailing some Poke Ball Plus features, Nintendo revealed that the device lights up, counts steps (allowing players to hatch eggs and collect candy in Pokemon GO) and can be used to catch Pokemon in Pokemon Let's Go by moving the device in a throwing motion. Understandably, the device will use up more of its charge when used as a Pokemon-catching peripheral than when it is just counting a player's steps.

Nintendo will likely reveal more information about the device and its capabilities closer to its November 16, 2018 release date. Fans are also waiting for more information regarding the price of the device - if the Poke Ball Plus really does just have a three-hour battery life few will be willing to pay a high price for it, so Nintendo will have to clear things up in order to win over fans.

The Poke Ball Plus will be released on November 16, 2018, alongside Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let's Go Eeevee.
