Gamers who are serious about collecting the absolute best Pokemon in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee will want to check their Pokemon's IV. Usually there's a lot of math involved to figure the exact IV of a Pokemon, but Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee offers a simpler solution that lets players know which Pokemon to train and which to transfer.

To get a general sense of a Pokemon's IV in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, players first need to unlock to the Judge function in their Pokedex. To unlock the Judge function in their Pokedex, players need to catch 30 unique Pokemon, and then go inside the building on Route 11 that's to the right of the Snorlax blocking the way to Route 12. If players go upstairs, they will bump into one of Professor Oak's assistants, who will add the Judge function to their Pokedex, assuming they've managed to catch 30 unique Pokemon species at that point.

Once the Judge function has been unlocked, players need to check the summary of any Pokemon they've caught, and then either press the Y button or shake their controller. This will prompt the Pokedex to judge the Pokemon on a three-star scale, with one star being OK, two stars being Good, and three stars being Amazing. Pokemon with three stars will have better stats and a higher IV than one and two star Pokemon, so Pokemon Let's Go players should try to keep those Pokemon in their collection.

Considering how useful the Judge function is when deciding which Pokemon to keep and which to transfer in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, we recommend players get it as early as possible. As previously stated, the location of the building is on Route 11, which is near Vermilion City, where the third gym battle takes place, so players will be able to get the Judge function fairly early on. Anyone paranoid that they may end up transferring an Amazing-tier Pokemon may want to hold onto their creatures until then.

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
