With the rampant success and reviews of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, another game just like it seems like a matter of time. Game Freak, of course, is currently focused on the new-gen 9 titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but there’s a good chance there will be another Pokemon Legends game before that gen comes to an end.
Of all the possible regions for a Pokemon Legends game, Galar is probably the least likely to be next. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen one day, though, and it’s fun to imagine what that could look like, when and if it does ever happen. There’s the catch, too, that a lot will probably change by then, but with everything as it stands, Galar is still ripe for a Pokemon Legends game to pick apart.
The Galar Region in a Pokemon Legends Game
Lore-wise, it would be great to step into the shoes of a character who, alongside Zacian and Zamazenta, stopped the first Darkest Day from happening. It would fit quite naturally in with the whole idea of Pokemon “Legends” and would serve as story content similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The whole region has quite a few things that, aged and changed, would be interesting to explore.
Outside of Pokemon Sword and Shield’s legendaries and lore, many places would be great to see. The Wild Area itself would essentially just become part of Pokemon Legends’ semi open-world approach, while areas like Hammerlocke could be in their prime. Beyond just reframing the mountains and whatnot too, it would be interesting to see the Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor adapted into the game, ensuring that Galar was reasonably varied for a Pokemon Legends game.
Furthermore, ancestors in a Pokemon Legends game have been well received, and it would be interesting to see, at least, the ancestors of Sordward and Shielbert. Ancient Galarian Kings would be a nice topic to toss on top of everything, and perhaps, for a bit of fun, these kings that Sordward and Shielbert idealize could be a bit more whimsical than imagined.
Galar Pokemon Who Deserve a New Regional Variant
Of course, Galar Pokemon wouldn’t be the only ones to receive new regional variants, but it would be interesting to see some older, perhaps even more knightly, takes on some of these Pokemon. At least one of Galar’s starters should receive a new form, but outside that, Thievul would be a good choice for a new bipedal, more Robin-hood oriented form. Toxtricity is a popular Gen 8 Pokemon, and it would be interesting to see it take a more bandit/brigand-looking form as opposed to its current rockstar looks. Falinks would be a good choice for a new evolution.
Frenzied would still work, but there’s also the intriguing possibility players would be facing angry Dynamax’d or Gigantamax’d Pokemon. That opens a ton of possibilities, including new forms of this gimmick. Just about any Pokemon would be deserving of these as well. But in terms of Rideable and Frenzied Pokemon to face, here would be our picks (simply based on Legends: Arceus and Galar Pokemon, though it would not likely be so clean cut).

- Wydeer – Standard Ride (Seems likely to be a mainstay in Pokemon Legends games)
- Dubwool – Search Ride
- Drednaw – Water Ride
- Obstagoon – Climb Ride

Frenzied Noble Pokemon in a Pokemon Legends Galar Game
- Sandaconda
- Coalossol OR Centiskorch
- Rapidash OR Sirfetch’d
- Mr. Rime
- Grimmsnarl
Galar Pokemon Endgame
Where some regions suffer in a possible Pokemon Legends game is the short list of legendaries available in the base game. Of course, others could always be brought in, but Galar legendaries themselves pack quite the punch. Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus would likely play a role similar to Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.
Yet, in terms of other quests, there are the Galarian forms of Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno that would be fun to see. The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra could do a lot of work here. Kubfu, and perhaps both of Urshifu’s forms, would make for a fun quest, while Calyrex, Spectrier, and Glastrier would make some good combos too. Volcarona is a pseudo-legendary but would well here, as well as Magearna, thanks to the Isle of Armor.
Crown Tundra also brings in Regieleki and Regidrago, but thanks to its unique approach of legendaries, any of the following could reasonably pop up in a Pokemon Legends Galar’s endgame as well: Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Latios, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Heatran, Regigigas, Girtin, Cresselia, Victini, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Genesect, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Diancie, Volcanion, the Tapu-lne of legendaries, and the Ultra Beasts.
Box legendaries are probably out, as well as the Ultra Beasts, but all together, there’s a solid line of Gen 8 legendary to pick from and older too. To top it off, Zarude would likely play a big role in the endgame as well. It’s all a pipe dream for now, but there’s potential for Galar and every other region in the Pokemon world too. Fans have spent years hearing about legends in modern titles, and the whole idea of playing them is incredibly appealing.
