Nintendo and The Pokemon Company dropped more information today on two upcoming Pokemon titles. Both Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are releasing for the Nintendo Switch in just a few months, and while many fans are excited about both games, there's a lot more mystery surrounding Legends. But now more info has been confirmed, specifically a new evolution for a fan-favorite Gen 1 Pokemon.

In the trailer released today for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there was a lot for players to sink their teeth into. Customization options were shown, more of the available Pokemon to catch were revealed, and there was the big reveal of a brand-new Pokemon called Kleavor, which happens to be a new third evolution for the Bug/Flying-type Pokemon, Scyther.

Kleavor is known in Pokemon Legends: Arceus as the "Lord of the Woods" and is the first Noble Pokemon to be shown off by Game Freak. According to the official Pokemon Legends website, Kleavor is an Axe Pokemon and falls into the Bug/Rock-typing. It's worth mentioning that Scyther does have another evolution, which is Scizor, a Bug/Steel-type introduced in Gen 2.

Kleavor and beautifly

Apparently, a particular type of mineral grown in the Hisui region can cause a Scyther to evolve into Kleavor. And because of the minerals, parts of its body have turned into stone and can even be chipped off when attacked during a Pokemon battle. Kleavor can also use its razor-sharp arms to chop down trees and carve symbols into tree trunks.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus players will eventually come across frenzied Noble Pokemon in the wild, such as Kleavor, and they'll need to be calmed down. Hitting them with regular attacks won't quiet them. As seen in the latest trailer, players will need to throw balms made using the Noble Pokemon's favorite food. After dodging the Pokemon's attacks and throwing as many balms as possible, players will have a chance of finally battling the Pokemon and defeating it.

There's no telling how players will be able to get their hands on these special balms or if they will be able to catch Kleavor to add to their battle party. There's also a question as to how Kleavor exactly evolves from Scyther. There could be a possibility that a unique evolution item might need to be found before evolving it, such as the Metal Coat item needed to evolve Scyther into Scizor. Pokemon fans will just have to wait and see.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus launches for the Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
