The core gameplay loop may have changed quite a bit in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, but the end goal remains more or less the same. At the very beginning of the title, players are tasked with helping Professor Laventon and the Galaxy Team to complete their Pokedex and will need to catch an awful lot of Pokemon out in the wild in order to keep the main story moving along.

With Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl having limited players to Pokemon from the first four generations of Pokemon games and Pokemon Sword & Shield cutting a significant number of Pokemon at launch, many wondered how many Pokemon there would be in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Now that the game is available worldwide, that question has finally been answered.

How Many Pokemon Are There in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

There are 242 Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the overwhelming majority of which are from the first few generations of Pokemon games. This total includes 17 Hisuian forms and seven brand-new Pokemon, with all but one of these joining pre-existing evolutionary lines. Players will be able to catch most of these Pokemon in a standard playthrough, though will need to have save data from both Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Sword & Shield for a few of the Mythical Pokemon.
