Even though Pokemon Legends: Arceus isn't the most traditional mainline Pokemon title, players still have the chance to encounter Shiny Pokemon while exploring the over-world. Shiny Pokemon are colored differently from their normal versions and exist for every Pokemon in the game (except for the Legendaries). These Pokemon can be found in the wild like any normal Pokemon, but the chances of finding one are 1 in 4096, the same odds in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. However, there are ways to increase the likelihood of finding Shiny Pokemon, and one of those ways is by getting the Shiny Charm.
What Does the Shiny Charm Do?
According to Pokemon resource site, Serebii, the Shiny Charm boosts the rate of Shiny Pokemon appearing by 3. This may not seem like a lot, but when players couple that with the Research Level boosts, the Mass Outbreak mechanic, and Space-Time Distortions, it's easier than ever to find a Shiny Pokemon.
How to Get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Getting the Shiny Charm will most certainly help players looking for Shiny Pokemon, but it's not easy to get it. To obtain the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players will need to reach Research Level 10 with all 242 Pokemon in the Hisui region Pokedex. This involves opening up the Pokemon's Pokedex entry and checking out the Research Tasks.
These tasks range from simple ones like catching the Pokemon or defeating it in battle, but there are more in-depth ones like having to evolve a Pokemon or catch a larger version of it. Fortunately, for the sake of getting the Shiny Charm, players don't have to complete every single task --they just need to get it to level 10.
If players have caught lots of Pokemon already and have them sitting at the Pastures, it could be useful if players switch out their Pokemon team with others that have missing data for its Pokedex entry. This way, players can just use the Pokemon in battle and try to complete the objective passively while catching other Pokemon that have yet to be added to the Pokedex. Some Research Tasks for Pokemon involve watching it use a certain move in battle, so make sure to check the tasks before battling.
If players encounter a Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, they can manually save their game by going into the menu. So, if players accidentally defeat the Shiny Pokemon in battle or if it runs away, gamers can manually reload their save data. The Shiny Pokemon will still be there to encounter. Players will also hear a sort of tinkling/sparkling sound when a Shiny Pokemon is nearby.
Where to Get the Shiny Charm
After players finally hit level 10 with all Pokemon, they can head to Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village. A cutscene will play out with some of the major NPCs, and players will receive the Shiny Charm.
