Pokemon Legends: Arceus manages to change many core features of mainline releases in the Pokemon franchise while also keeping a few elements of familiarity, including the fact that some items are rarer than others - and also more valuable. Such is the case of colored Shards (Red, Green, and Blue ones), which seem to bear little to no use up until later in the game, when players can acquire a recipe that makes them one of the best ways to obtain more Pokedollars. This guide explains where to get colored Shards and how they can be used in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Where to Get Colored Shards

Red, Green, and Blue Shards can all be obtained in space-time distortion zones, and they will look like tablets of stone on the ground, enveloped by a colorful aura. Colored Shards are extremely common in space-time distortion zones, and they make for the primary item that spawns there.

Usually, Pokemon Legends: Arceus players can walk out of a space-time distortion zone with over thirty colored Shards, but they should store them for later rather than sell them for 150 Pokedollars each. Storing them might seem like a waste, but doing so can provide players with plenty of in-game money to stock up on crafting items and other goods.

What Colored Shards are For

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players can get some rare drops or guaranteed items from quests and by exploring the regions of Hisui, such as Stardust, Nuggets, and Star Pieces. Nuggets are the most valuable of the bunch, sitting at 10,000 Pokedollars each, with Star Pieces following at 5,000 Pokedollars, and Stardust at 1,000 Pokedollars.

Later in the game, players can purchase a crafting recipe for Star Pieces from Oscar for a total of 10,000 Pokedollars. While the purchase is quite massive, the recipe requires a total of three Red, three Green, and three Blue Shards and a bag of Stardust to make a Star Piece, which means that the combined value of these items goes from 2,350 Pokedollars to 5,000 every time players use the recipe.

As such, four crafts are more than enough to cover the expenses for the Star Piece recipe, while also providing players with a consistent source of income that becomes increasingly effective the more players explore any given area without going back to Jubilife Village.
