When Pokemon Red & Blue were first released for the original Game Boy more than a quarter of a century ago, there was no such thing as a Fairy-type Pokemon. In fact, it wasn't until Gen 6 that the type officially came into existence, with several pre-established Pokemon gaining a secondary typing just to make up the numbers. With this in mind, it likely won't come as too much of a surprise to learn that there aren't that many strong Fairy-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Just because the numbers are low though does not mean that there aren't still a handful of viable contenders for those looking to add a powerful Fairy-type Pokemon to their team. Granted, a few of the best Fairy-types in Pokemon Legends: Arceus are a little underwhelming, but the ones at the very top of the pile can definitely get the job done.

5 Mr. Mime

In truth, Mr. Mime is a fairly mediocre Pokemon, but, due to how poorly represented the Fairy-type is in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it still finds itself among the game's best by default. To its credit, the Psychic / Fairy-type does have fairly impressive Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed stats and also has access to a wide array of top-tier moves. Perhaps the best thing about Mr. Mime though is how early on in the game players can get their hands on one, with both it and its unevolved form Mime Jr. showing up in Hisui's very first region. Mr. Mime is best with a Calm nature.

Players can catch Mr. Mime in the Sandgem Flats area of the Obsidian Fieldlands. Its unevolved form Mime Jr. can also be found here as well as in the Horseshoe Plains area of the same region. Mime Jr. evolves into Mr. Mime after it learns Mimic at Level 25.

4 Sylveon

There aren't too many viable options when it comes to pure Fairy-type Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, though that's not to say that there aren't any. Clefable provides a solid option, but the pick of the bunch is undoubtedly Sylveon. The latest Eeveelution has a hugely impressive Special Defense Stat and can hit pretty hard with moves like Dazzling Gleam and Hyper Beam too thanks to its 110 Special Attack stat. Granted, it is a little slow, but, providing it can survive that first hit, it's likely to do some real damage when it does get a chance to act. Sylveon is best with a Sassy nature.

Players can catch Sylveon inside space-time distortions in the Obsidian Fieldlands area. Its unevolved form Eevee can also be found in space-time distortions, as well as in the Horseshoe Plains area of the Obsidian Fieldlands, the Crossing Slope area of the Cobalt Coastlands, and the Avalanche Slopes area of the Alabaster Icelands. Eevee evolves into Sylveon with a high Friendship stat, but only if it knows a Fairy-type move.

3 Gardevoir

Being a Psychic / Fairy-type, Gardevoir is completely immune to Dragon-type attacks while also boasting resistances to both Psychic and Fighting-type moves. This makes it an incredibly effective counter for the likes of Palkia and Garchomp and a solid pick for the early stages of the fight with Volo too. Gardevoir is an effective Special Attacker and can withstand a fair amount of punishment thanks to its 115 Special Attack stat. Players should look out for one with a Modest nature, which will further increase its Special Attack stat at the expense of a little Attack.

Players can catch themselves an Alpha Gardevoir in the underground tunnel beneath the Heart's Crag area of the Alabaster Icelands. Alternatively, its unevolved forms Ralts and Kirlia can also be found in the Heart's Crag area as well as inside the nearby Snowpoint Temple. Ralts evolves into Kirlia at Level 20 and Kirlia evolves into Gardevoir at Level 30.

2 Togekiss

Aside from it being a little on the slow side, it's difficult to argue too much with Togekiss' base stat distribution. The Fairy / Flying-type has solid defenses, while also boasting an impressive 120 Special Attack stat. When combined with moves like Moonblast and Air Slash, it can therefore be incredibly effective, and, just for good measure, it's also completely resistant to both Ground and Dragon-type attacks. Players should try to find a Togekiss with a Modest nature, which sacrifices a little of its Attack stat for an even higher Special Attack.

Players can catch Togekiss near Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands area. Alternatively, they'll be able to find its unevolved forms Togepi and Togetic in the Cottonsedge Prairie area of the Crimson Mirelands and the Tranquility Cove area of the Cobalt Coastlands. Togepi evolves into Togetic with a high Friendship stat and Togetic evolves into Togekiss when exposed to a Shiny Stone. Players can find these rare evolution items in space-time distortions, dig them up with Ursaluna or exchange them for Merit Points at the counter in Jubilife Village.

1 Enamorus

Regional forms were something of a given, but few fans will have predicted the introduction of a brand-new Legendary in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The Fairy / Flying-type Enamorus serves as the fourth member of the Forces of Nature and is easily the pick of the bunch. Unlike the original trio, Enamorus' Therian Forme doesn't just boost its highest attacking stat at the expense of the other and a little Speed, but instead completely changes the way that the Pokemon works in battle. This additional versatility is worth its weight in gold and helps to elevate Enamorus above each and every one of its fellow Fairy-types. When in its Therian Forme, Enamorus is best with a Quiet nature, while its Incarnate form favors Mild. Those who plan on regularly switching between the two may therefore prefer a Neutral nature like Docile, Bashful, or Serious.

How to Get Enamorus in Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Players will be able to find Enamorus in the Scarlet Bog area of the Crimson Mirelands, but only after they've caught the other three Forces of Nature and shown their completed Pokedex entries to Cogita. Before they can catch the Pokemon, they'll first need to hit it with a Poke Ball and then immediately engage it in battle while its guard remains down. To switch between the Pokemon's Incarnate and Therian forms, players will need the Reveal Glass, which they can obtain by returning to Cogita after completing Enamorus' Pokedex entry
