Ever since the surprise announcement of Pokemon's first ever mainline DLC in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions for Sword and Shield, fans have had their hearts set on one thing: Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes. Now, with the franchise's monumental 25th anniversary taking place just next week, many are expecting some sort of news to come their way, whether in the form of a Pokemon Direct, Pokemon Presents, or simple Twitter announcements.

Although Pokemon made no appearances at the most recent Nintendo Direct, many theorize that further announcements regarding the franchise's anniversary plans have been saved for Pokemon Day, February 27, but one prominent Pokemon leaker says otherwise. In some recent tweets, established leaker Centro Pokemon teased fans with quite a few tidbits of information, such as what exactly they can expect to learn, and when they can expect it.

Just two days ago, Centro Pokemon shared some new information with fans, assuring them that they will not have to wait until Pokemon Day for the "big news" they have been waiting for. Additionally, in a tweet made just yesterday, the leaker told fans not to expect a Pokemon collection in lieu of this year's anniversary, and that there will be an "Arceus episode," further urging fans to take the details with a grain of salt.

Of course, fans were excited that they may not have to wait until the 27th to receive Pokemon news. Even though this is nothing more than a rumor, many theorize that the reasoning behind this is because Pokemon Day falls on a Saturday, and Nintendo tends to hold Direct-styled presentations during the week, possibly pushing a Pokemon Day Direct back to Friday or even sooner. However, fans were quite disappointed to learn that they may not receive any sort of celebratory collection of Pokemon games this year, as had been previously rumored. Despite the unfortunate news, the mention of an Arceus episode caught the eyes of many.

The attention of fans was immediately drawn to Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's Delta Episode, which saw players embark on a post-game mission involving Rayquaza after defeating the Elite Four. Not only would an Arceus episode in Diamond and Pearl remakes fall right in line with the episode in the Ruby and Sapphire remakes, but it would finally give fans a way to capture Arceus in the Sinnoh region since the original games' Azure Flute, an item allowing players to obtain the legendary Pokemon, was never officially distributed.

Of course, these supposed leaks are nothing more than rumors, but they do provide insight into things players may see during Pokemon's 25th anniversary. For now, the franchise's celebrations include a McDonald's Happy Meal promotion, a virtual concert with Post Malone, and more, but it will be interesting to see what else Pokemon Day brings fans on February 27, or possibly even sooner.
