A Pokemon fan came up with their version of a regional variant for Lapras. These alternate forms were added to the RPG series in Pokemon Sun and Moon, and are pocket monsters with different Typings and designs than their original counterparts. A number of Pokemon with regional variants have been introduced into the games, with more being added in Generation 9.

Lapras is a Water/Ice-Type that first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. According to the PokeDex, the creature is used to help transport people across bodies of water and was almost hunted to extinction. Lapras has a Gigantamax form but does not have an evolution or baby form. One gamer created a regional form for the pocket monster, making a major change in its typing.

A Redditor known as CraigRosnerArt- posted an image of a regional form for Lapras that they came up with. The artist's concept shows a change in the Pokemon's Typing, altering it from Water/Ice to Dragon/Water. The pocket monster's blue and cream body, as well as its gray shell, have been changed in favor of various greens and browns. Large pieces of algae flow off of the creature's shell and body, and its tail was made much longer than what is seen in Lapras' original form. Its shell also saw a large amount of change, as the spikes are now more prominent and sharp. It is an interesting take on the Pokemon and could easily pass as a real regional form.

The piece that CraigRosnerArt- posted has gained a bit of popularity and currently sits at over 11,000 upvotes. Many users are expressing their love for the artwork, with one stating that they have been hoping that the Pokemon Lapras would get a new baby or regional form for quite some time, as they feel that the Pokemon deserves it. A number of commenters brought up that they want this version of the pocket monster to be real, with one asking Game Freak to add it to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Nintendo has confirmed that gamers will be seeing new variants of older pocket monsters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and has so far revealed the Paldean regional variant for Wooper. The creature will go from being Water/Ground-Type to Poison/Ground-Type. Wooper will still have the Water Absorb ability, though its second ability will be changed from Damp to Poison Point, fitting in with its new Poison-Typing. Gamers will have to wait and see which other Pokemon will gain a Paldean form when the ninth generation of Game Freak's RPGs drops later this year.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release for the Nintendo Switch on November 18.
