Throughout the Pokemon franchise, players of the video games and main characters in the anime and manga have fought against Gym Leaders in order to become better trainers and earn badges. A Pokemon fan has been recreating some Gym Leaders, with Koga being the most recent that they have posted.

Koga is from Fuchsia City and was a Poison-type Gym Leader in Gen 1 before becoming one of the Indigo Plateau's Elite Four members in Gen 2. Being one of the first Gym Leaders in the franchise, Koga is one of the most iconic, appearing in many video games and being a main antagonist in the early chapters of the Pokemon Adventures manga series.

A Reddit user, ibralui, has made their own fan art of some of Pokemon's Gym Leaders, including Koga. He appears older with shorter, blue and white hair instead of it being black. His uniform has also been redesigned, giving him a blue scarf rather than a red one, as well as a blue pattern across his grey clothes instead of them simply being dark blue. As Koga is a Poison-type Gym Leader, one of the Pokemon that he has is a Weezing, who was also included in the fan art.

Other Reddit users have liked this redesign that ibralui made of Koga, thinking that it is cool to see him appear much older than he is in the games, anime, manga, and other media across the franchise. Some people also mentioned that they look forward to seeing the other Gym Leaders that ibralui redesigns.

So far, ibralui has also recreated Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge, and Erika, all of which are also Gym Leaders that have been around since Gen 1, when Pokemon Red and Blue, the first two titles in the franchise, released. If the pattern continues, ibralui will likely redesign Sabrina, Blaine, and Giovanni next as they are the remaining three Gym Leaders from Gen 1.

This has been an amazing year for Pokemon fans so far. Not only have a lot of creative artists, like ibralui, posted beautiful artwork, but new titles have been released and announced. Pokemon Legends: Arceus came out back in January, which many fans enjoyed, and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the upcoming Gen 9 open-world games, were announced to release later this year. There have also been a lot of new episodes for the main anime series, and a mini-series, Pokemon: Hisuian Snow, comes out next week.
