The Pokemon fandom has been getting loads of great news this month as the new DLC for Sword and Shield dropped and a new Pokemon Snap was announced for Switch. Also, the dub of the Pokemon Netflix series released for English speakers, but a slight change has some Pokemon fans a little upset.

Pokemon Journeys was not available in the US until the 12th of June, even though it's been available in Japanese since November of last year. The story focuses on Pokemon main character Ash meeting up with a new trainer named Goh and moving into the Galar region from Pokemon Sword and Shield Pokemon. Most of the anime is identical to the Japanese version, but one glaring change was made for English-speaking audiences.

The official Netflix English Dub of Pokemon Journeys changes the "World Championships" in the Japanese version to the "World Coronation Series" in the English dub. This might seem like a small detail to some, but to the series' biggest fans, this is a major change. This could have massive implications for the series, as it would mean the winner would be considered more than just a champion.

Ash and Goh battle through Galar in Pokemon Jounreys

The Galar Region is ruled by a royal class, which is mentioned in the Pokemon Sword and Shield games. So this could actually be some sort of the celebration of the region's monarchy. Or it could be that the "World Championship" name was too close to the real world TCG events.

Either way, fans haven't heard the last of the Galar region. On top of Pokemon Journeys and the Sword and Shield Isle of Armor DLC update, players have more Galar Pokemon to look forward to in Pokemon GO. So with the continued focus on the region, perhaps there could be some sort of reveal that the Championships is actually a contest for power. It would certainly be an interesting twist for the anime series to have.

Pokemon Journeys is available on Netflix.
