Throughout the Pokemon series, there are numerous examples of Pokemon being designed based on real-world animals. For example, there are a number of pocket monsters that resemble insects and other types of invertebrates. Two insect-like Pokemon that often come to mind are Heracross and Pinsir.

First introduced in Gen 2, Heracross is a Bug/Fighting-type Pokemon that has a body like a beetle. It features a blueish exoskeleton and has a horn protruding from its forehead. On the other hand, Pinsir is a Bug-type Pokemon that is part of the original Gen 1 Pokedex. Instead of having a single horn similar to Heracross, Pinsir has a pair of large pincers growing from the sides of its head. Recently, one talented fan created real-world artwork based on these classic bug-like Pokemon.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as ed1206 shared a picture of a couple of detailed clay models they had constructed. However, these were no ordinary pieces of artwork as they featured the designs of Pinsir and Heracross from the Pokemon series, and the results of the project were impressive, to say the least. In the image, the Pokemon were positioned on top of a pair of stands on a table.

Heracross was recreated in impressive detail as the model included many of the same design elements as its in-game counterpart. For example, the Pokemon had a large pronged horn. In addition to Heracross, the Pinsir model created by ed1206 shared a similar amount of detail. It featured a brownish coloration and had a pair of angry eyes. Beyond that, the design included the Pokemon’s signature characteristic, its set of pincers.

Since ed1206 posted this picture of these impressive clay figures of Heracross and Pinsir on Reddit, numerous members of the Pokemon community have taken notice. With over 3,200 upvotes in only a day, many appreciated the attention to detail that the artist managed to include in the designs. In addition, some commented that these Pokemon were some of their favorites. “Pinser and Heracross are underrated,” one gamer claimed.

While these clay models were doubtlessly impressive to a number of fans, they are far from the only pieces of artwork made by passionate gamers over the last couple of weeks. For example, another fan recently finished a picture that contained 105 days' worth of Meowth drawings. In addition, ed1206 has made other clay figures based on the Pokemon series. Recently, they showed off a clay version of a Groudon they had sculpted. Time will tell what new creations are shared with the community. Regardless, if they contain a similar quality to these clay models constructed by ed1206, they are likely to impress.
