The Season of Legends is definitely living up to its name this month as Pokemon GO receives a duo of brand new Legendary Pokemon debuts for the mobile AR game. The first Luminous Legends event added Xerneas to the game earlier this month and now it is time for players to start preparing for the next challenge as the Luminous Legends Y event approaches.

As part of the upcoming late May 2021 event, Yveltal is arriving in the game for the very first time. The powerful Legendary Pokemon is is a Dark-/Flying-type which gives it an interesting collection of strengths and weaknesses for Pokemon GO trainers to take into account when preparing their counter rosters for the many Battle Raids that are on the way.

With Yveltal's type pairing in mind, trainers should focus on taking advantage of its weaknesses to Electric-, Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock- types. Players should also be sure to avoid fielding any Ghost-, Psychic-, Bug-, Fighting-, or Grass-types that could be weak against the new Legendary Pokemon. There are some very strong counters available that have previously been relevant to the Pokemon GO meta game, so hopefully many trainers have already invested resources into a few of these options and can help put together a solid roster to contribute to the Battle Raid effort...

Like usual, trainers should remember that they don't need every one of these exact recommendations with the perfect move set in order to succeed, but things will definitely be a bit easier if they have that option. The key tip for success is to have a roster of Pokemon with high DPS that can take advantage of Yveltal's numerous weaknesses. This is an average difficulty Legendary Battle Raid, so trainers should be sure to team up with a group of four or five other friends who strong counters before burning a Raid Pass. Some expert trainers may be able to get by with small groups, but the average players should definitely stick with a strength in numbers approach.

In the coming weeks, players should learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the final weeks of the the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
