Pokemon GO has kicked off its latest event, which celebrates World Tourism Day. Despite what its name implies, the Pokemon GO World Tourism Day event lasts until October 1, with fans of the game able to take advantage of it the world over until then. As is typical with Pokemon GO events, World Tourism Day comes with its own unique Field Research tasks and rewards that will be available for the duration of the event.

Some past Pokemon GO events have featured quite a few unique Field Research tasks, but the World Tourism Day event just has three. Even so, the tasks represent a good opportunity for players to get some Pokemon that are otherwise pretty difficult to catch, and are therefore a bit more exciting than the usual batch of Field Research tasks.

Pokemon GO World Tourism Day Research Tasks and Rewards

  • World Tourism Day: Do a trade of over 10,000km - Zangoose or Seviper
  • World Tourism: Send 25 gifts - Lapras
  • World Tourism: Make a new Friend - Nosepass

In regards to the 10,000km trade, the easiest way to do this would be to become friends with someone that lives on another continent, hatch an egg they send you, and then trade the Pokemon that hatches from that egg with someone nearby. Doing so will result in a Pokemon encounter reward with either Zangoose (for those in the western hemisphere) and Seviper (for those in the eastern hemisphere). There's a chance at shiny Zangoose or Seviper, which makes the reward a little more exciting.

Sending 25 gifts in Pokemon GO is self-explanatory, but the reward is an extremely rare Pokemon. Lapras is one of the hardest Gen 1 Pokemon to find, so Pokemon GO players who have yet to fill out their Kanto region Pokedex should jump at the opportunity to add one to their roster.

And finally, getting a Nosepass encounter by making a new friend in Pokemon GO is helpful as it will make it easier to get the candy necessary to evolve Nosepass. Once they have 50 Nosepass candies, the next step for Pokemon GO players is to evolve Nosepass while standing within range of a PokeStop that has a Magnetic Lure Module.

Players have until October 1 at 1:00pm PT to complete the World Tourism Day Research tasks and rewards.
