Pokemon GO's Halloween 2017 event still has yet to kick off, but even so, information on what it will entail has leaked to the public. The latest leak surrounding the event is thanks to a prematurely posted image on the app store that seems to confirm yet another Pikachu variant is coming to the game, this time in the form of Witch Hat Pikachu.

The image, posted by Reddit user Ausjam, shows a Witch Hat Pikachu joined by various ghost-type Pokemon. While it's possible that the image has been faked, it looks official enough, and it's not hard to believe that Niantic would roll out another Pikachu variant for Pokemon GO. After all, there are already numerous hat-wearing Pikachu that have been released for different events, so why not one that celebrates Halloween?

If the image is real, as is likely the case, it tells us a couple of things about the upcoming Halloween event. For one, it seems to be evidence that the event will start sooner rather than later. While Niantic has confirmed that the event is in fact happening, it has yet to reveal its start date, so an announcement on that front should come any day now.

Secondly, the image also confirms previously leaked information about the Halloween event, specifically the addition of third generation Pokemon. While fans will likely have to wait until spring to get their hands on most of the third gen Pokemon, it appears as though the Halloween event will at least allow them to catch a couple ghost-types from the Hoenn region.

In the same image with Witch Hat Pikachu, fans can see the ghost-type Pokemon Sableye and Duskull, who were both previously discovered to be coming to the game by dataminers. If we assume that previous leak to be accurate, that means fans can also look forward to Banette, Dusclops, and Shuppet to be added to the game within the coming weeks as well.

While there's now even more evidence that third generation Pokemon are coming to Pokemon GO, apparently joined by Witch Hat Pikachu, fans still shouldn't get their hopes up until Niantic makes an official announcement. Until then, Pokemon trainers should have at least a little more time to prepare for the game's Halloween 2017 event before it kicks off later this month.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
