Pokemon GO players are having a rough time trying to deal with severe issues. Since the latest update, users have encountered major accessibility concerns for those with photosensitive conditions, among other problems with the game.

In a recent update, the developers at Niantic unintentionally introduced dangerous light flashing to Pokemon GO in the version 0.211.2 update. Niantic promised to release an update to Pokemon GO to prevent harming players, but the update appears to have only worsened the situation, as well as introducing other issues.

In the initial Pokemon GO update that introduced the flashes, the screen would flash white whenever a player tapped a Pokemon to capture it. Niantic promised a fix in response to concerned players, but the update that was supposed to fix the issue not only did not change the current problem, but added another flashing screen when canceling a capture. This is concerning for players with photosensitive conditions such as epilepsy, and the issue left unchecked could be very dangerous for such players.

Pokemon GO has had a rough past recently, as many updates have introduced issues ranging from annoying to legitimately dangerous and concerning. A recent update causing Pokemon GO to rapidly drain phone batteries caught the ire of the playerbase, and fans are becoming frustrated with Niantic releasing updates that harm players both in and outside of the game.

Pokemon GO fan warned other players about the flashes mere days ago, and Niantic's fast response time would have been impressive if the response did not worsen the situation. In addition to this major accessibility concern, players are also experiencing low framerate, which some suspect may be due to a memory leak bug. Some industrious players have found ways to downgrade the game, sacrificing new features to have a more consistently playable experience, though these fixes will not be sustainable forever.

Niantic's frustrating updates are leaving players concerned for the future of Pokemon GO, and older versions of the game are a temporary solution to massive problems. It may be best for active players to avoid updating the game entirely until the fan community confirms that the latest updates contain no issues. Pokemon GO is a unique concept that has captured the attention of gamers worldwide, but Niantic's lack of care in updates to the game is a problem that needs to be addressed, and consequently may switch to other options for real-world AR experiences, like Pac-Man Geo from Bandai Namco.

Pokemon GO is available now for mobile devices.
