When Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee arrive later this year, many Pokemon GO trainers are planning to rush into the Switch game to start exploring the crossover features. The trailer reveals that players can transfer pokemon from PoGO to Let's Go, but doesn't get into the details of how that works. Those mechanics are starting to become a little more clear thanks to some developer interviews.

During a recent chat with Eurogamer, Pokemon boss Junichi Masuda elaborated a bit on how the transferring feature would work between the mobile and Switch games. Here's a look at his explanation...

"... Right now you can send Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee - and they don't go straight into your collection or your party, they enter into an area that's kind of like a Safari park type thing where you can see the Pokemon moving around in there, and you can actually go there and interact with them and catch them. But there are also some incentives to move a lot of the same Pokemon from GO - the same species - and there are some sort of mini games you can play if you do that."

It is interesting that transferred pokemon go into a park area, rather than straight to the Switch account's collection like a standard trade. Does that mean that these pokemon won't be added to the Switch account's Dex until they have been recaptured? This will likely make a lot more sense once more of the game has been shared.

For Pokemon GO players, the mechanics surrounding earning special rewards and gifts are likely the most exciting. There has been a lot of speculation about what the gifts might be, including brand new pokemon, but no concrete details have been released just yet.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices. Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee will launch on November 16, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
