Niantic and The Pokemon Company released Pokemon GO over five years ago and the mobile AR game continues to be updated with new content. Included with the additional content for Pokemon GO is the upcoming Johto Tour that focuses on Pokemon from the second generation.

Niantic has confirmed that thanks to the success of Pokemon GO's Kanto Tour, another GO Tour is coming in February and it will focus on the Johto region. Pokemon GO fans will have to purchase GO Johto Tour tickets in order to participate which are available now and cost $11.99. Just like the previous Pokemon GO Tour, fans will have to choose between two versions of the event with one focusing on Pokemon Gold and the other centering on Pokemon Silver.

Pokemon GO's Johto Tour Gold version includes increased encounter rates of Shiny Pokemon such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Spinarak, Igglybuff, Natu, Hoppip, Sunkern, Misdreavus, Wobbuffet, Gligar, Shuckle, Teddiursa, Swinub, Mantine, and Ho-Oh. The incense used in this ticket version will also attract more Spinarak, Gligar, Teddiursa, and Mantine. For both versions, more Johto Pokemon will appear in the wild, in raids, and hatching from seven-kilometer Eggs, while baby Pokemon such as Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Togepi will be hatching from two-kilometer Eggs.

Pokemon GO's Tour Silver version offers an increased chance of encountering these Shiny Pokemon: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Ledyba, Cleffa, Sudowoodo, Hoppip, Yanma, Pineco, Delibird, Skarmory, Houndour, Phanpy, Miltank, Larvitar, and Lugia. The incense used in the Silver version will draw more Ledyba, Delibird, Skarmory, and Phanpy. To complete the Pokemon Johto Tour Collection Challenges, players will have to exchange Pokemon with each other in order to acquire Pokemon from the alternate version.

Fans of Pokemon GO's Kanto Tour had to choose between Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green, with each version offering its own unique rewards and that's no different with Pokemon GO's Johto Tour. Each version offers version-exclusive Pokemon just as the Nintendo Switch games Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do. The purchase of a ticket also comes with event-exclusive Special Research which leads to an exclusive Masterwork Research line which unlocks upon completing the initial research.

If Pokemon GO fans purchase a Johto Tour ticket by Monday, January 10, they will have access to both the January and February Timed Research, while fans who purchase a ticket by Thursday, February 10 will only get the February Timed Research. This timed research will give early ticket-holders a slight advantage so the sooner Pokemon GO fans jump on board the Johto Tour, the more they'll be rewarded. Included with the rewards for both versions are three Pokemon GO Remote Raid Passes, extra candy, and an exclusive in-game medal celebrating the event.

Pokemon GO is available right now for Android and iOS.
