Pokemon GO fans are eagerly awaiting the first wave of Gen 4 creatures and the recent trailer has many members of the community thinking that the launch is right around the corner. The official Pokemon GO twitter account just added some more evidence to that speculation with a cryptic tweet.

The tweet poses a question about a Water-type Pokemon from Sinnoh and uses a screenshot from the part of the Gen 4 trailer that shows Piplup swimming underwater. This tweet has caused players around the world to check their radar, Discord, and Facebook groups for word of a sighting, but so far nothing has turned up.

Here's a look at the tweet...

The use of the word 'reports' in the tweet made many players believe that Piplup may have actually already been released, but so far it seems like that isn't the case. This could just be another case of Niantic not choosing its words wisely enough...

Even if Piplup isn't releasing this weekend, the tweet does suggest that the first wave of Gen 4 releases will include the iconic starter. It will be interesting to see if tweets about the other two starters follow or if maybe there will be tweets about additional Water-types. We'll continue to monitor the Pokemon GO accounts and report back with any additional information that arrives this weekend.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
