Pokemon GO's first major Team Rocket Invasion event is well underway and players around the world are battling Rocket Grunts at Pokestops and purifying Shadow Pokemon. Although the in-game activities are popping up everywhere, New Yorkers are actually reporting Team Rocket sightings in the real world, as well.

The ongoing event offers Pokemon GO trainers the chance to pick up two new shiny creatures, in addition to the opportunity to battle against grunts and earn other rewards. As if that wasn't exciting enough, the appearance of some actual Rocket grunts in NYC suggests something else is still on the way. New teases from the PoGO social accounts suggest that something big is happening on July 28, but we don't know what just yet. Perhaps the first real appearance from Giovanni?

The Team GO Rocket grunts have been incredibly busy since they arrived in New York. Pokemon GO posters have been "vandalized" by the Rocket grunts and footage of them doing some hacking can likely be tied to the suspicious activity on Pokemon GO's social media accounts last night...

This sort of real world interaction and promotion from Niantic is a fun change of pace from its usual event promotion and definitely seems like a great fit with the AR community. It will be exciting to see what the ongoing countdown is going to deliver and if this sort of real world promotion continues for other upcoming events later this year.

Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
