Pokemon GO's Team GO Rocket Invasion is fully underway, after a brief Rocket retreat, and trainers in the mobile AR game are able to head out and battle grunts while taking advantage of some increased spawns of Team Rocket's favorite battle partners. The current Invasion is scheduled to run through August 1, so players have just about one week to take full advantage of all of the event bonuses and special spawns.

Throughout the event, certain Pokemon are going to be more likely to hatch from Eggs and appear in Battle Raids, as well. In addition to those Pokemon GO shakeups, the Team Rocket Invasion also introduces shiny Ekans and shiny Koffing to the mobile game. That should give completionists plenty of motivation to head outside and stay busy for the next week.

The shiny chance will be enough to get most players engaged in the event, but even if that doesn't do it, the increased spawn rates for meta relevant Pokemon families like Houndour, Sneasel, and Machop should give PvE and PvP focused players reason to get involved, as well. Picking up another high IV version of any of those Pokemon helps to strengthen future Battle Rosters in a big way.

Be sure to keep in mind that the event wraps up before the early August Community Day event, so players can't rely on running into these encounters on that day. That said, Eggs picked up during the event and hatched during Community Day should see in impacted by the event Egg distribution.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.

Be sure to check back in the coming days for more Pokemon GO news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
