What Super Effective Week Is

The official Pokemon GO page explains the event like this:

Did you know that Fairy-type moves are super effective in battle against Fighting-type Pokémon? Or that Psychic-type Pokémon are weak to Bug-type moves? Take part in Supereffective Week to learn more about Pokémon types, and you might discover an exciting Pokémon to partner up with in battle against Team GO Rocket!

It began November 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. PST and continues until Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. PST. Leek Duck made an amazing graphic that really breaks down everything players will see this week:

Shiny Pokemon

There will be two new shiny Pokemon in the game; if players are lucky, they may come across the new Shiny Tentacool that can evolve into Shiny Tentacruel. While the chances of each Tentacool encounter being shiny is not less rare than normal, Niantic has boosted the number of times this Pokemon will show up. Hopefully this ensure that people get to grab one in the opening week, so make sure to try and grab their own Shiny Tentacool while their numbers are up.

According to the Silph Road Subreddit, other Pokemon that are strong against Team Rocket also pop up more frequently in battles. If players need Machop, Murkrow, Rhyhorn, Swinub, Teddiursa, Torchic, Gastly, and Shroomish Pokemon or candies, this week is a great time to get them and level them.

Bonuses

During the Supereffective Week, players will also get all sorts of bonuses just for playing the game. For each Trainer Battle, players will earn twice as much Stardust. Pokestops will give more Revives and Potions to help players defeat Team Rocket leaders like Arlo or Giovanni. Players will also earn a guaranteed Charged TM from all three-star raids.

Players will want to make sure to farm the Pokestops for those extra items, and fight as many trainer battles as possible. Players can earn thousands of Stardust per day. And don't forget about the free Raid Passes if they are available! The Charged TMs teach Pokemon new moves, so they are pretty valuable items. Also, GO will feature Sword and Shield’s Galarian Weezing in some four-star raids, too.

Field Research

Supereffective Week also has Field Research! There is a single event Research for players. All trainers have to do “use a supereffective Charged Attack in a gym battle” and Tentacool will have a chance to be shiny. A Shiny Tentacool will go a long way to helping trainers who are looking to build the Rocket Radar and defeat the entire Team Rocket.

Pokemon GO is a mobile game available for most mobile devices.
