As rewarding as it can be to find certain Pokemon in the wild, Pokemon GO also allows players to accomplish certain goals in order to get the Pokemon that they're looking for. These are known as Research Tasks, and they take on a number of different forms throughout the game. One of the easiest ways to get starters through these Tasks is with Daily Tasks, which usually just ask players to level up or catch certain Pokemon. Many of these give players an opportunity to find starters, and they can be repeated each day for players that really want to grind for them.
Pokemon GO has done a fairly good job at balancing how certain Pokemon can be caught in the world. The typing location mechanics are an immersive way to make players feel like they're in a special area for certain Pokemon, while Lures and Research Tasks can help expedite the process. As more and more starters get added to the game, it may get more difficult for players to find the ones they want, so it's nice to have some kind of edge when filling out the Pokedex.
