Pokemon GO trainers are having a busy February and now that the Valentine's Day events are over, there's only a short break to prepare for the upcoming February Community Day. Somehow Niantic has found the time to slip in another short event with one of the experimental spotlight evenings taking place later today.

Spotlight Hour in Pokemon GO is a new event that doesn't quite have a predictable formula just yet. This will be the third of the new Spotlight Hours and should offer increased spawns in your local area for both general Pokemon native to that area and one particular Pokemon (so far Onix and Spoink have been featured).

This week's Spotlight Hour takes place tonight between 6pm and 7pm local time and has already kicked off in some time zones. Despite the fact that the event is underway around the world, there are still mixed reports on which Pokemon is actually supposed to be featured this time around.

Unlike Community Day events, where it's very obvious which Pokemon is featured thanks to marketing and a crazy amount of spawns, things are a bit more subtle with Spotlight Hour. The strongest inkling from players who have already started the event is that this time around the spotlight is on either Koffing and Tentacool, but nobody is sure quite yet.

Other reported features of the spotlight hour include:

Weather boosted spawns seem to be increased

No definitive featured Pokémon. Not clear if this is intentional, or a misstep from Niantic’s end

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
