Pokemon GO has already received one patch this week, as developer Niantic adjusted the auto pick feature for the game’s raids. But it seems that the game’s developer isn’t done providing players with little tweaks, as the hit mobile title has now received another small but useful update.
The new Pokemon GO update was released yesterday and includes a handful of new features. The main addition is that it improves the search functionality on the Pokemon Collection screen. The two new search terms available to players are ‘Legendary’ and ‘Defender.’ Legendary, of course, will show players all of their legendary Pokemon, while typing in Defender will show players which Pokemon of theirs are defending Gyms.
Another useful change means that items received from spinning Gym PokeStops and taking part in raid battles are now listed in the Journal. Given that Niantic recently nerfed raid battle rewards, the Journal entries may provide a painful reminder to players of their paltry winnings, but it will still help them keep track of things nonetheless.
And finally, the update includes several bug fixes. Niantic has now “resolved a bug which caused Pikachu hats to disappear from the in-game model and icon” as well as a bug that “caused some icons to disappear when scrolling through the Pokédex.” Additionally, the patch notes mention “various bug fixes and performance updates” but no further details on these have been provided by the developer.
Pokemon GO players will be grateful for the bug fixes and for the new quality of life changes, but many will agree that Niantic has much more to do. Pokemon GO raids still have a lot of issues and although the development seems to be on the case, things are far from perfect. And despite the changes to the search functionality, some are also reporting bugs with the search feature not returning results when a large amount of search terms are used.
Niantic continues to tease Pokemon GO trading and PvP, which will finally give fans the highly anticipated gameplay features that they’ve been asking for. That’s exciting for fans who have been waiting a long time for them to arrive but before then, Niantic will have to make sure that other parts of the game are in working order first. New content is great but most fans would hope that the existing gameplay features work as intended first.
Pokemon GO is out now on Android and iOS.
