The Sinnoh Celebration Event is currently active in Pokemon GO for all players to enjoy. Trainers have from January 12 at 10:00 a.m. in players' local times to January 17 at 8:00 p.m. local time to participate.

One of the biggest parts of this event is the Sinnoh Collection Challenge, in which Pokemon GO players can test their hunting skills. Within the event's duration, players will need to find and catch nine specific Pokemon from the Sinnoh region in order to obtain the challenge's reward.

While some of the Pokemon required will be common spawns during the event, others will require players to work in order to find them. However, players will be able to complete their collection list quickly if they know how to get each Pokemon.

Pokemon Turtwig

Every player will be given the same nine Pokemon to look for:

  • Turtwig
  • Chimchar
  • Piplup
  • Buizel
  • Combee
  • Shadow Stunky
  • Shadow Snover
  • Cranidos
  • Shieldon

Luckily, the majority of these Pokemon can be found normally as a wild Pokemon. This means that by using lures and incenses, players can increase the Pokemon spawn rates around them to make hunting for these Pokemon easier. Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Buizel, Combee, Cranidos, and Shieldon can all be found this way.

Another way to obtain some of these Pokemon is by hatching 5 km eggs obtained during the Sinnoh Celebration Event. While not all of the Pokemon that are hatched from these eggs will be needed for this challenge, there are a few that can appear, namely Cranidos and Shieldon.

Yet another way of finding the necessary Pokemon is through the Field Research Tasks for the Sinnoh Celebration event that can be picked up via spinning PokeStops. These helpful research tasks and the Pokemon encounters they offer include:

  • Power Up Pokemon Four Times - Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup encounter
  • Win Two Raids - Cranidos or Shieldon encounter
  • Defeat Two Team GO Rocket Grunts - Buizel Encounter

Pokemon appearing in the Sinnoh Collection Challenge can also appear as 1-Star raid bosses. Only a few of them appear in this way, but players have the chance to battle and encounter Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, and Buizel through raids.

Finally, Shadow Stunky and Shadow Snover will be a little more difficult to obtain for players. In order to catch these Pokemon, players will need to defeat members of Team GO Rocket that are using them, and then rescue them after the battle. By completing the Sinnoh Collection Challenge, players will get 3,000 Stardust, a Magnetic Lure, and fifteen Pokeballs.
