The Pokemon GO Safari Zone event is in full-swing in Montreal, Canada, giving players in the area will get increased Pokemon encounters for monsters that are speedy, such as Ponyta and Shedninja. However, those that don't live in Montreal will still be able to get one benefit from the event in the increased chance of a Shiny Yamna.

In Pokemon GO, players can sometimes encounter Shiny Pokemon in the wild, the likelihood of which depends on whether there's an event going on or not. For the Safari Zone event, the Shiny Yamna chances have been raised globally, giving everyone the chance to nab a blue version of the dragonfly.

Shiny Pokemon are highly sought after in all Pokemon titles, and Pokemon GO is no exception. Finding the best looking Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO is a goal of a lot of players, so whenever an event offers an increased chance of a Shiny Pokemon, it brings the trainers out in droves. The Safari Zone event increases the amount of the Bug and Flying-type Pokemon Yamna, which also increases the chance of finding a Shiny blue Yamna while playing Pokemon GO this weekend.

Yanma will be able to evolve into Yanmega, whose Shiny version is blue and pink. The evolution requires 100 Yanma Candies and a Sinnoh Stone. Sinnoh Stones in Pokemon GO aren't the easiest to find, but the result, in this case, is a powerful Pokemon that will be useful in battles and Raids. Players can battle the Pokemon GO Team Leaders for Sinnoh Stones and other rewards, which makes having a good battling team important. As for Yanma's case, the Pokemon's increased encounter rate will run through the Safari Zone event, which is September 20-22.

At times, it can be hard to find more than a few types of Pokemon depending on the area, so any event that changes up what type of Pokemon appear is always welcome. Like with the upcoming Pokemon GO October Community Day, events give players a chance to diversify their Pokemon teams as well as go outside and hunt for more monsters at the same time as others. When there is something other than the typical Rattatas outside, it encourages players to open up the game and get to capturing some monsters.

The Pokemon GO Safari Zone event, and the increased Yamna encounter rate will continue until September 22.

Pokemon GO is available to play now for free on Android and iOS.
