It may feel like Pokemon GO's June Community Day just wrapped up, but trainers are already looking ahead to July. Yesterday Pokemon GO fans received confirmation that the upcoming event would be Squirtle-themed and today trainers can take an early look at what the shiny version of the water-type starter will look like.

Although Niantic has made a habit of not confirming shiny appearances of Community Day pokemon before the event starts, it's become tradition to hunt down the shiny variants during each of the monthly events. The shiny version of Squirtle isn't available in the game just yet, but it looks like The Silph Road has tracked down some images of how they will look in the mobile AR game.

Here's a look at the shiny Squirtle family tree...

Although it's a little difficult to see in these photos, be sure to take note of the green shell. That is the most striking difference with this evolved shiny.

Although the shiny version look great, some fans who were really holding out for Squirtle Squad spawns are feeling disappointed. It seems like a long shot, but those could also make a surprise appearance during the event. If Niantic wanted to surprise its fans, that would be a great way to do it.

July's Community Day event takes place on July 8. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
