Not too long ago, it was revealed that the upcoming Safari Zone Sentosa event would make it easier for players around the world to be able to catch the ultra-rare Shiny Shuckle in Pokemon GO for a limited time. Speaking of Pokemon available for a brief period of time, the video game developer Niantic also announced that Shiny Meltan would be returning for a short span, with players potentially able to encounter it upon using the Mystery Box.

According to Niantic, Shiny Meltan will be returning to Pokemon GO starting on April 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM PDT, and will be leaving the mobile augmented reality game on May 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM PDT. What's more is that PoGO Trainers will only have to wait 3 days in between opening Mystery Boxes rather than the standard waiting period of 7 days. Additionally, this 3-day cooldown period will not end with the event, as it will become the new standard cooldown period for Mystery Boxes.

For those unaware, Pokemon GO players are able to obtain a Mystery Box whenever they transfer a Pokemon from Pokemon GO to the Nintendo Switch titles Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! After opening a Mystery Box, Meltan should begin appearing around players for a duration of 30 minutes. Should players encounter and catch the Shiny version of the Steel-type Mythical creature, then they will be privy to the chance to evolve Shiny Meltan into Shiny Melmetal.

Interestingly enough, Meltan hasn't been in Pokemon GO for very long. As a matter of fact, Niantic added the Steel-type Mythical Pokemon back in September 2018, making it roughly 7 months total that it has been a part of the mobile ARG.

Beyond this limited time Shiny Meltan event, Niantic also has other plans to keep Trainers engaged. For instance, Pokemon GO‘s Eggstravaganza 2019 event is now live, and runs through April 23, 2019. Not to mention, Pokemon GO's May 2019 Community Day is coming up soon and will feature the Fire-type Torchic.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
