April 20 has arrived, which means that Pokemon GO players in the Sentosa, Singapore regions are busy celebrating the new Safari Zone event by catching as many shiny Shuckle as possible. In a surprise turn of events, it seems that the weekend also includes the addition of a new shiny that is seemingly available far outside of the designated Safari Zone.

Multiple players on Reddit from around the world have shared screenshots that suggest they encountered shiny copies of Lapras starting this morning. At this point, Niantic hasn't issued any kind of tweet confirming the release of shiny Lapras worldwide, but players around the globe are out trying to get one of the big purple monsters for themselves.

Lapras is a very popular Pokemon and in the month's shortly after Pokemon GO's release it was one of the most sought after creatures. The hype has since died down now that most players own multiple copies (thanks to events like the Water Festival), but the release of a shiny could definitely be enough to bring Gen 1 fans back out of the woodwork to hunt this beauty down.

At this point, players who want to get out and try to find a shiny Lapras of their own can start by tracking down the Win 5 Gym Battles Task. This is the fastest and most reliable way to trigger a Lapras encounter, so hit up your local Pokemon Discord channel and figure out which Stops currently have that task up for grabs.

Be sure to check back in the coming days for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
