As if Pokemon GO players don't have enough to do between hatching 7km eggs for Gen 1 region exclusives and earning EX Invites to catch Deoxys, there is now a new shiny to hunt down, as well. Obviously collecting every shiny isn't a goal for the average players, but the completionists out there will be excited to see a new shiny family appearing this month.
As predicted by the recent datamines of the latest game update, Pokemon GO has added shiny Krabby and its evolution, shiny Kingler, to the mobile AR game. The addition seems to have gone live as of yesterday and players are sharing screenshot proof to show that they have been able to collect the new shiny.
Here's a look at the official shiny sprites and a screenshot from a player...
The Shiny variants are only aesthetically different from the regular spawns and will not perform any differently in a battle. Unfortunately, it seems like there isn't any increased chance for the shiny Krabby to appear either, so it will likely be very rare for at least a little while.
Check back for more updates and guides in the coming days and weeks. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is now available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
