Although the month of nonstop events is over now that August is here, there is still plenty for the Pokemon GO community to be excited about. In addition to the new Research Breakthrough reward available, Niantic also seems to have released at least two new shiny Pokemon into the wild.

Now that the new Field Research quests and rewards are available, trainers are busy exploring the game and completing tasks. Along the way, a few Pokemon GO players seem to have stumbled onto shiny versions of both Houndour and Snubbull.

Here's a look at the new shiny variants, courtesy of the Reddit community...

Although Snubbull isn't the most meta relevant Pokemon, having a shiny version in inventory is still an exciting achievement for any trainer. Houndour, on the other hand, has an evolution that is a strong contender for a handful of Battle Raid bosses, so that one is likely to be more popular and sought after.

Because these two shiny Pokemon have appeared and there is a quest that involves evolving a Meowth, some members of the community are curious if Niantic is about to launch some kind of cats and dogs-themed event. Either way, many fans are just happy to have some exciting new shiny creatures to track down.

Be sure to check back throughout the month for more updates and news. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
