Detective Pikachu's premiere is right around the corner, which means that cross-promotion for the feature film is officially underway. Pokemon GO players can now participate in the Detective Pikachu crossover event and earn some sweet rewards and encounters. In addition to that, there is a new shiny in the wild to collect as part of the celebration.

The event coincides with the release of shiny Aipom, whose normal version can be spotted in the Detective Pikachu trailer. Aipom isn't the most meta relevant pokemon, but fans are always excited for a new shiny.

Although Aipom's family of evolutions may not be the most exciting, this event will offer the opportunity to track down some new shiny monsters. Pokemon GO players who want every variant spawn available can add Aipom and its evolution to their collection of shiny monsters if they act quickly and start tracking them down now.

Some users on Reddit are already complaining that the shiny Aipom family isn’t the most exciting looking, but that certainly won’t stop the completionists from spending some time tracking down the monster throughout this crossover event.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.
