When Niantic introduced more Gen 3 Pokemon to Pokemon GO, fans were delighted that two of their favorite characters would be added to the game. Seviper and Zangoose, two iconic feuding Pokemon, would be regional exclusives available on two different sides of the world.

But there's more good news: The regional exclusives have now moved locations. Confirmed by reports from the Pokemon GO community, Seviper is now available in North America, South America, and Africa, while Zangoose is available in Europe, Asia, and Australia.

It should be noted that the migration seems to be gradually rolling out, per those community reports. Some players have yet to see the changes to the regions reflected in spawns and it could be several hours until the switch is fully complete.

The big question for many Pokemon GO player is whether Niantic will introduce more location swaps for regional exclusives. Niantic does have a lot of experience in making regional exclusives available in other regions for short amounts of time, having sent the legendary dog trio on a road trip last year. Suicune, Raikou, Entei switched places every month for three months, giving everyone a chance to catch them. Moreover, the developer often puts regional exclusives in different locations as part of limited time events.

Pokemon GO Zangoose location swap

One character in particular that fans would like to see go on the move is Relicanth, the Water and Rock-type Pokemon who is the most recent regional exclusive to be added to the game. The character is available in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, meaning that just a few million Pokemon GO players have access to it. If the character was to be moved, players outside of these regions would jump at the chance to catch it.

Regular regional exclusives would be welcomed by fans but unfortunately, it's unclear whether Niantic plans to introduce this as a regular occurrence. Seviper and Zangoose are two characters that have a well-known rivalry and they have battled for territory throughout the history of the franchise (in games and in the TV show). This location swap appears to be a nod of the head to that.

Because Seviper and Zangoose's region switch fits into the game's canon, it seems unlikely that other, singular Pokemon will just be moved for no reason. Paired regional exclusives are another question, so Pokemon GO players are advised to watch this space.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and iOS devices.
