Earlier this month Pokemon GO launched a brand new feature for collectors that was pretty quickly overshadowed by hype surrounding the start of a new in-game season and upcoming holiday activities. The Postcard Book is available now and players may have some questions about exactly what it is and how to use it.

For starters, it’s important to understand that the Postcard Book has no impact on gameplay mechanics in Pokemon GO. That means zero impact on catching Pokemon or on battling in the PvE or PvP scenes. It’s purely a collectible feature that is meant to help trainers save and remember locations that they visited or that their friends sent Gifts from. Postcards can start to pile up quickly, so many collectors are already exploring the best ways to organize and optimize their collections.

Players have the option to pin Postcards they want to hang on to, remove Postcards from their Postcard Book entirely, and even sort their Postcards to kind a particular one based on date received or or who it was sent by. Check out the steps below to find out how to manage the Postcard Book with ease…

How to access the Postcard Book

  • You can access your Postcard Book in your Item Bag or your Trainer profile.

How to pin Postcards

  • You can pin Postcards from friends’ Gifts by viewing the Gifts in their Trainer profiles and tapping the pin icon.
  • You can also pin postcards from your own Gifts by viewing your Gifts in your Item Bag and then selecting the Gift whose postcard you want to pin.

Viewing your Postcards

  • You can sort your Postcards by the date you received them.
  • You can also sort them by who sent them.
  • Tap on a Postcard in your Postcard Book to view the date you received it and who sent it to you.

Removing Postcards from your Postcard Book

  • You can remove Postcards from your Postcard Book by selecting the Postcard you’d like to remove, tapping the icon in the bottom right, and then tapping DELETE.

Obviously the Postcard Book isn't really a feature for everyone, but players who enjoy the more social side of PoGO are likely going to get a lot out of it. The ability to pin postcards from certain locations and remember a particularly special spot is a feature that had been requested from the community for a long time (basically since the Gifts systems launched a few years ago), so it's pretty exciting to see it finally coming to fruition. There are no other announced features on the roadmap right now, but it should be very interesting to see what other feedback the game's developers incorporate in the coming year.

The community should learn much more about this and other new features and activities throughout the early days of the Season of Heritage. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
