Although some gamers like to insist that Pokemon GO is dead, the mobile AR title is alive and well and making a ton of money every month. The game may not be the global phenomenon that it was during its first summer, but there is still a very large and engaged community of players who don't mind spending a little cash here and there on Coins to purchase Premium Raid Passes, storage space increases, and other in-game benefits. All of those little purchases definitely add up and have made the game a cash cow.

Recent Pokemon GO sales data has offered some interesting insights into the game's profitability. In addition to how much money is being made, there is also some interesting information about where the most money is being spent. Some number crunchers from SensorTower have analyzed the data and ranked the top spenders in the game, based on country.

Here's a look at the list...

It shouldn't come as a very big surprise that the top of the list is dominated by the U.S. and Japan. These are the regions where the game has become the most popular, so it makes sense that the most money is being spent there, with some other popular regions following behind.

Although some players may be surprised to see Japan in second place, it's important to keep in mind the population differences between those two regions. Another list that ranked money spent per capita would likely put those two countries a lot closer or potentially put Japan in the lead.

As the summer of events continues, Pokemon GO is likely going to continue raking in the cash. Check back in the coming weeks to see what other events are coming to the game in late July or August.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
