Not too long ago, Pokemon GO players attending San Diego Comic-Con 2018 discovered that the developer Niantic decided to have the rare creature Unown spawning in droves today at this year's pop culture convention, giving PoGO fans at the event yet another reason to attend. Now, it seems as if Niantic is keen to offer those who can't attend SDCC 2018 a fun bit of news as well, with the company having announced that the Legendary Steel-type Registeel has been added to the game.

As seen in the tweet below from the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, players will need to get prepared to do battle with Registeel, as the creature is set to take over Raid Battles from the Ice-type Legendary Regice. According to Niantic, the addition of the Steel-type to Raid Battles will last until August 16, 2018, which ought to give avid trainers plenty of time to cobble together a solid offensive strategy to beat and capture Registeel.

While some players may be surprised at Registeel's inclusion in Pokemon GO, it's likely that many foresaw the Legendary Steel-type would be added to the mobile augmented reality game soon, especially since the Gen 3 creature is a part of golem trio that includes Regice as well. With this being the case, many are speculating that the next Pokemon to take over for Registeel in Raid Battles next month will be the Legendary Rock-type Regirock.

With Registeel now in Pokemon GO, it's safe to say that plenty of trainers will rejoice, as it indicates that Niantic is steadily adding as many Pocket Monsters as possible in order to fill out all of the missing spots on the Pokedex. Although there's no telling which other creatures absent from the Pokedex will be added next, with Niantic CEO John Hanke having previously said that he wants PoGO to be a "lifetime experience" for players, there's a good chance the developer could wind up successfully introducing the whole roster of the franchise's Pocket Monsters in the future.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
