Yesterday, Niantic added a lot of Pokemon to the highly-popular mobile augmented reality game Pokemon GO, and the list is rather impressive. Besides new Pokemon, Niantic made some other changes to the popular mobile game, by tweaking the list of region-exclusive Pokemon. Previously, Plusle and Minun were exclusive to specific and opposing regions but not anymore.

Until the latest update, Plusle would only appear in North America, South America, and Africa, whereas Minun would only appear in Asia, Europe, and Australia. Now, it seems the iconic tag team duo can be found in the wilds of Pokemon GO together. It seems that, as part of yesterday’s update, the developer decided to release the restrictions on the Pokemon’s spawn locations.

Although the official Pokemon GO twitter (see below) stated that “Plusle and Minun have been spotted together around the world,” it may or may not be deliberate on Niantic’s part. Reportedly, players have been finding the duo together, but it could just be that both Plusle and Minun’s spawn rate increases during rainy weather. They are also relatively common Pokemon, but whatever the reason, it’s nice to see the long-removed duo reunited.

The removal of Plusle and Minun's spawn restrictions also follows the addition of three regional exclusive Pokemon to the list, so in a way, it could be a balancing act on Niantic’s part. However, it remains to be seen if this change is permanent or temporary. It could be a major change-up, similar to when Zangoose and Seviper rotated regions, but nothing is certain about Plusle and Minun’s future.

One of the difficult points of Pokemon GO is finding a specific Pokemon amongst the 300+ in the game. While the numerous additions to the game (such as Rayquaza) only seem to add to this, Niantic seems to be fully aware of such issues, since the latest special event (lasting through February 13) increases the chance of finding gen 3 Pokemon. This means that Pokemon GO players have until then to find that elusive gen 3 Pokemon (and Plusle and Minun too!)

Good luck finding them, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
