Pokemon GO players are currently powering up their collection and starting to plan ahead for which trios will be the most meta-relevant when the upcoming PvP Battle feature goes live. The initial press release contained a ton of information to digest, so don't feel bad if things still seem a little unclear. Luckily, we've got a guide to break down everything we know so far.

There's no release date yet, but it's never too early to start doing some homework. Pokemon GO PvP battles will allow players to take three Pokemon into a combat session to fight for special rewards (likely including a Sinnoh stone). The first player to know out all three of the other's roster wins. The battles have some interesting limitations, special features, and tiers; so there is a bit of studying to do before they arrive.

It's a lot of information to process, but having it broken down visually makes things a bit more approachable. The three battle tiers are one of the most interesting parts of the system. In theory, this should offer a chance for a wider range of Pokemon to shine in the new system. Battle Raid experts know how the metagame can be dominated by the same handful of monsters from cycle to cycle, so hopefully PvP will allow for a little more creativity and variety.

As the actual release approaches and more details become available, we'll be sure to post news, updates, and guides. Be sure to check back for more information. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is currently available in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
