After a couple of weeks where players could only receive two items from PokeStopsPokemon GO has finally fixed the bug and will now allow all trainers to take full advantage of the Halloween event. Earlier this month, players posted in the game's online forums, concerned as to whether the new reduced drops were a bug or simply a new change from developer Niantic. Given that the developers went so long without fixing the issue, suspicion was beginning to fall on the latter, but a fix has finally been procured.

While the bug didn't affect all Pokemon GO users, there was a sizeable portion of the game's fan base that were affected by the two item drop. The issue is still yet to be officially acknowledged by the title's developer, but Niantic must have decided that the bug was wide-scale enough to work on in secret. It's unlikely that any trainer will receive reimbursement for the issues, but at least all players can finally gather sufficient items again at last.

Speculation online was so common that some fans even believed that the new two drop system was part of Niantic's plan to turn all PokeStops into Gyms. While the theory didn't hold much logic behind it, the idea came from the developer's previous game Ingress having just one kind of building, 'Portals', which act as both item dispensers and capture points. These so-called GymStops would certainly have allowed for more items to be found in-game, but the consequences the change would have on Niantic's micro-transaction system made the theory incredibly unlikely to hold any credit.

Unfortunately, while players in busy areas will now be able to get hold of items more freely, the game has just removed some of its more rural PokeStops and trainers who aren't in a city area might struggle to find items whatsoever. Without frequent access to an urban hub, Pokemon GO is still a difficult game to play, without forking over volumes of real-world cash on micro-transactions.

Right now, the game's Halloween event has got players active and outgoing once more, and the addition of specific third generation Pokemon is a great draw for trainers who had stopped playing. Since the increased spawn-rates mean that this is the best time to gather candies for those Ghost-Types, we've put together a list of Pokemon that should be caught to prepare for Gen 4.

Pokemon GO is out now on Android and iOS devices.
